BCIA Awards: Raising a glass to this year’s finalists

It won’t have escaped the attention of many of you that today was our originally planned date for this year’s BCIA Awards. The biggest and best awards ceremony in the controls and BEMS industry is always a spectacular event and I was particularly looking forward to delivering my first speech as BCIA President (I guess I’ve got a bit longer to write it now), and also welcoming the highly respected broadcaster Huw Edwards to the stage as our guest speaker.

We can all appreciate there are rather more important things going on in the world right now, but this is just a personal note to acknowledge all the shortlisted finalists who submitted some quite exceptional entries and will no doubt be waiting eagerly to find out if they have won. Your moment of glory will come, even if you have to wait a little longer than expected. The champagne is on ice, as the saying goes!

Hopefully it is not too long before we can all see each other again, and I look forward to welcoming everybody to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on our rescheduled date in September. We will all have a lot of catching up to do and it really will be an occasion to remember.

In the meantime, I will raise a glass to all of this year’s finalists tonight, I’ll be thinking of you. Cheers!
