Looking after the interests of members
As an increasingly influential trade association, the BCIA is proactively looking after its members’ interests. Attendees at the Autumn Members’ Meeting heard first about:
- The lobbying we have been undertaking through FETA and other partner organisations to press Government on UKCA marking and the need for a stable market on standards to ensure continued sector growth.
- Ensuring that the message that BEMS has a key role to play in achieving Net Zero. We are building ever stronger links with the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy on how our sector can deliver on energy efficiency, technology integration, cutting carbon emissions and leading the drive to Net Zero. We are early consultees on a range of Government actions and policy developments and our Technical Working Group members have both early sight of proposals and influence on outcomes. If you want to join their work in this area, contact CatherineW@feta.co.uk.
- We are currently working on Energy Technology List consultations on Lighting Controls and the framework for Energy Related Products Policy which will result in new legislation.
More details are available on Slides 26 to 29 of the Moor Hall Presentation which you can download here
We are also looking out for the challenges our members face and working closely with FETA we are working to address the difficult issues surrounding Liability Insurance in the current post-Grenfell environment.
Attendees at the Autumn Members’ Meeting were advised on progress in engaging insurance brokers that may be able to present sector specific packages with reduced premiums as the outcome. Watch this space for further developments…
