Vacancy: BCIA Executive Officer
Following a period of sustained growth in activity, membership, and turnover the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) is seeking to fill the position of full time Executive Officer, with the incumbent due to retire in September 2022.
About the BCIA
A member of the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA), the BCIA is the unified voice of the UK building controls industry and is committed to supporting all its members in their efforts to establish and maintain the highest standards in product and system development, application, and service. The BCIA encourages skills development and training and aims to influence the development of legislation on building efficiency and control and promote the use of building controls in all its applications.
About the Role
Reporting to the BCIA President and Management Committee, the main purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day operation (including the financial and administrative activities) of the BCIA, maintain the ongoing development of the Association and the range of activities it undertakes to promote the interests of its members; including (but not limited to) training and skills development, representational activities and information and knowledge sharing.
The Executive Officer’s key responsibilities are in ensuring
- The activities of the BCIA and related entities are conducted in an effective and efficient manner, in accordance constitutional requirements and best practice governance.
- Development and successful delivery of a two-year strategic plan consistent with the Association’s aims and objectives,
- Supporting the Association Working Groups in the areas of Skills Development, Sector & Association Marketing, and Technical Development including the timely delivery of related projects,
- Management of, and working with, BCIA partner subcontract partners in the delivery of the annual Awards & Event programmes, sector marketing, training courses and Market Statistics.
Candidates for the position should be educated to graduate level (or with equivalent experience); have broad management and leadership experience, preferably in a technical or membership-oriented organisation environment; have good time management skills to enable them to deliver projects on time and to budget and be self-motivated, have integrity, and be able to encourage others (many of whom are volunteers) to meet their commitments. A working knowledge of the building controls industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
