Working Groups

BCIA has a number of working groups leading on projects and initiatives relevant to the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.     

Occasionally, subgroups are formed to move forward specific projects or initiatives and tend to be ‘task and finish’ in nature.

Working Groups meet at least three times a year, attendance is only open to members.

Current Working Groups

  • Technical Working Group

    A central resource for the BCIA on all technical issues, supporting the development of technical advice and support for members, industry and other stakeholders.

  • Skills Working Group

    A central resource for the BCIA on all skills development issues. Charged with responding to skills challenges facing the industry and with promoting pathways at all levels in order to attract and retain talented people into the industry.

  • Marketing Working Group

    A central resource for the BCIA on all marketing issues, supporting the profile and positioning of the BCIA, its members and the industry.

  • Young Engineers Network

    Aimed at those under the age of 35 working in BCIA member companies. YEN provides access to a peer-to-peer network, events and meetings. YEN champion diversity in BEMS and provide opportunities for ongoing development and learning.

  • BEMS Trailblazer Employer Group

    Responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of the Level 4 BEMS Controls Engineer Apprenticeship. Employer-led to ensure the needs and experience of employers drive development so that Apprentices obtain the skills and experience needed to thrive.

  • Management Committee

    Elected from the membership, the Management Committee are responsible for representing the views of members' whilst also overseeing the management of the Association and Training Company (BCIA Ltd and BCIA Operations Ltd).
