BEMS Experienced Worker Assessment

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is engaged by the Construction Leadership Council to run a training and qualification validation scheme for the construction industry,

CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do,

By ensuring the workforce are appropriately qualified the card plays its part in improving standards and safety on UK construction sites,

Card schemes carrying the CSCS logo can only issue cards to individuals holding nationally recognised qualifications at a minimum of level 2 or 3,

Many experienced workers in the BEMS industry haven’t always had the opportunity to obtain formal qualifications relevant to the industry with ‘grandfather rights’ no longer sufficient.

To support experienced workers who require a gold card, an experienced worker assessment or qualification is currently in development.

More details will follow shortly.

Graeme Rees, BCIA President

“One of the industry’s biggest challenges has been to establish a way to help retain valuable people with extensive skills for the good of the building controls industry. I’m delighted that through BCIA’s investment, the EWA pilot is now underway with the EWA launching in early 2024.”
