BCIA launches essential guide to Building Controls & Automation terminology

Committed to supporting building controls and automation professionals, the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) has launched a Terminology Handbook – providing all those with an interest in the sector with an easy-to-access practical guide and an in-depth glossary of terms.

Titled ‘Navigating Building Controls & Automation – A Terminology Handbook’, the informative and engaging digital resource will help those in the industry understand the standard terminology and definitions used throughout the sector.

The extensive handbook has been developed to bring clarity and empower those working in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), in-house BEMS teams, engineers, and specialists involved in the specification or facilities management of building control systems.

Encompassing everything from a glossary of terms through to a comprehensive dictionary, and a full list of relevant policies and legislation, sustainability and performance schemes, and important associations and organisations, the Terminology Handbook is a must-have for BEMS professionals.

Stacey Lucas, President of the BCIA, believes the new handbook will be invaluable for anyone in the BEMS sector, whether apprentices or vastly experienced engineers. She said: “The new Terminology Handbook is designed to demystify industry jargon and terminology, and empower professionals across the sector. As a clear and accessible resource, it aims to provide clarity for those involved at any stage of a BMS project.”
