Full calendar of events signals an exciting year ahead for the BCIA

As an organisation that’s known for its focus on development, training, and increasing awareness of the importance of building controls, the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) is hosting a multitude of engaging, insightful, and informative events for its members in 2025.

The events, taking place across the whole of the UK, will give members the opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the building controls and automation sector with like-minded professionals, increase their knowledge and understanding of the industry and the impact of sustainability practices, and network with fellow building energy management systems (BEMS) engineers.

The BCIA has a huge range of events planned for 2025, so to whet the appetite, here are just a few examples of what’s to come throughout the year:

Acknowledging the importance of close collaboration between professionals across the building controls sector, the BCIA is looking forward to holding a series of networking events, located in Scotland, Warrington, Gatwick, London, Derby, and Swindon. Beginning in Scotland on Thursday 27th February and ending with a networking breakfast in Swindon on Thursday 2nd October, these informal and enjoyable events will enable members from across the UK to get together to meet fellow like-minded industry professionals and discuss the matters most important to the sector.

Throughout the year, the BCIA will also be hosting ‘Manufacturer Lunch & Learn’ sessions, all accessible online. Taking place on the last Friday of each month at 12pm, these informative and engaging online discussions, each lasting one hour, will be open to all BCIA and Young Engineer Network (YEN) members and will give an opportunity for attendees to meet the host team, hear about any new product developments, and undertake some short CPD-style learning to keep up-to-date with best practice. The first session, taking place on Friday 28th February, will be hosted by Distech Controls.

The first of our CEO roundtables, taking place on Wednesday 2nd April, will see CEOs and others in C-suite positions identifying key challenges and opportunities in BEMS and considering the role employers, employees, and the BCIA will need to play in combating these challenges.

The BCIA will also host its Annual Members Conference at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham on Thursday 1st May, featuring a wide range of informative conference sessions and speakers. Spaces are limited to 100, so book your place to avoid missing out!

BCIA President Stacey Lucas was thrilled to reveal the multitude of different events available and was keen to stress just how important it was to have so many events aimed at furthering industry knowledge and increasing awareness.

She said: “With over 190 member companies, we have a unique and powerful community. We had a great year in 2024 and we’re looking to really build on that in 2025. We have a huge range of thoroughly insightful and interesting events coming up, so we’re sure there will be something for everyone.

“With the building controls industry, and the built environment as a whole, facing significant challenges due to the building regulations changes and the ongoing skills shortage, it is absolutely imperative that all BEMS professionals are able to build relationships through networking, increase their skills and knowledge base and collaborate with others to really drive the industry forward. The various networking events, roundtables, and working group meetings are an ideal way to do just that.”
