New BCIA memberships highlight impressive period for building automation sector

With a staggering 16 companies joining the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) in recent months, the building automation sector is truly going from strength to strength – due in no small part to its increasingly important role in enhancing the built environment’s sustainability performance.

As one of the UK’s leading trade associations, the BCIA takes its position incredibly seriously, ensuring the benefits and adoption of building automation solutions across the spectrum of commercial real estate is understood.

With the nation’s net zero target of 2050 getting closer on the horizon and developers, contractors, building owners, and occupiers all streamlining their ESG strategies and enforcing their commitment to reducing environmental impacts, having an association that leads on lobbying and advocacy and promotes wider understanding and information on the benefits of building automation systems is absolutely vital.

In addition to receiving exclusive market trend information, gaining access to a pro-active network of members with which to develop business relationships, and having the opportunity to collaborate on shared interests, BCIA members are given the chance to influence and shape policy and legislation.

In the previous five months, the association has welcomed 16 new members: AirTech Controls, Produal UK, Lloret, Invictus Controls, Escher Building Integrated Technology, J & T Electrical Ltd, Thanium Nine, TCM IP Services Limited, Go Building Energy Controls Ltd, Syndicate Technical Solutions Ltd, Synchro Energies Ltd, Clockworks Analytics, Controls & Panel Engineering, Reliable Controls Corporation, Peel Control Systems, and Trustbridge.

As the BCIA’s recent market report highlighted, the sector continues to perform well, rising 3.8% to £865 million in the year-to-date. So, it’s hardly a surprise that membership numbers are increasing, especially with more and more building automation engineers keen to put their own stamp on sustainability practices and drive innovation further.

Billal Vindhani, Business Development Director at Clockwork Analytics, revealed they were keen to become members of the BCIA to help drive the industry further. They said: “We are thrilled to join the BCIA and collaborate with industry leaders to advance the field of building controls and operations.

“At Clockworks Analytics, our mission is to provide cutting-edge fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) platforms, that enhance building performance and sustainability. Our advanced FDD capabilities enable our clients and partners globally across all building types to identify root causes and address issues in real-time, ensuring optimal operation and energy efficiency.

“By leveraging our innovative platform, we aim to transform the way buildings are maintained, making them smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable. We look forward to contributing our expertise and working together to drive innovation and excellence in the industry.”

BCIA President Stacey Lucas revealed the optimism in the building automation sector had been reflected in the number of new members in recent months. She said: “With building owners and facility managers increasingly looking for ways to increase energy efficiency and cut expenditure, building automation is becoming a highly useful tool they can’t ignore.

“With that in mind, the sector is going to play a very prominent role in the built environment in the years to come and our members, both new and existing, can look forward to working alongside each other to further the knowledge and understanding of this incredible industry.”
