One Sightsolutions’ future-focused training earns major award

With a focus on enabling innovation through knowledge, One Sightsolutions’ comprehensive online Niagara certifications and training courses have seen it win the prestigious BCIA Contribution to Training Award.

Designed to be available no matter where engineers are, the high-quality online training courses and certifications have been developed in collaboration with industry leaders to further knowledge and understanding of smart building integrations, IoT, and other new technologies in the industry.

Aimed at meeting the needs of engineers at different stages of their careers, One Sightsolutions’ courses and certifications arm trainees with the crucial knowledge they need to deliver smart buildings that meet the energy goals of today. Additionally, the skills and knowledge gained will enable engineers to play a key role in integration and retrofitting to help the UK meet its net zero target by 2050.

Attendees praised the delivery of the training, commenting on the knowledge of the trainers, along with the comprehensive training and development. Oliver Kendrick, from Equans, said: “The training was really good. The trainer, Will, is very personable, helpful, and very well versed with his knowledge. Even if he didn’t know the answer, he would find out for any of us.

“The course was delivered in a very good way, easy to understand, and not rushed. It definitely helps when someone who is training you can relate to personal experience and is able to relay information in a different way to help you understand it a lot easier.”

Tom Elbrow, from Kendra Energy, echoed the positive feedback, stating: “The training was brilliant, really informative and practical for real life examples.” Matt Brown, Managing Director at E.ON Controls, added: “Great to see another example of the training and development that is so important and that we fully support within the business.”

As a result of technical opportunity and demand, One Sightsolutions currently runs three exclusive one-day advanced training courses, covering Niagara Security Masterclass, Networking 101, and Masterclass: Deploying LoRaWAN with Niagara 4. These skills build upon fundamental knowledge to enable BMS engineers to be best-placed to deliver truly advanced smart building and automation projects across the UK.

Additionally, the training providers have also partnered with ThinkTech to exclusively deliver a fully Tridium-certified five-day Niagara 4 Extend course to EMEA. This builds upon the knowledge of the TCP and enhances current and future engineer project capabilities, through IoT integration, smart graphics, big data, security, and more.

The OneSightTV YouTube channel also provides free training to Tridium and BMS engineers, offering a wealth of tips, showcases, and skills on new technologies. By the end of 2023, OneSightTV had more than 8,300 subscribers – gaining around 115 new subscribers on average each month – with its videos watched by more than 1 million viewers.

Throughout 2024, the company aims to provide a series of industry panel discussions on its OneSightTV YouTube channel, identifying trends and opportunities to ensure the BMS community is at the forefront going forward.

Keen to expand the knowledge of the industry as a whole, One Sightsolutions has also delivered bespoke training courses when knowledge on a specific subject is required for a project. For instance, trainers have travelled to deliver MQTT integration workshops at offices across the UK for one of the UK’s biggest firms.

Furthermore, as a leading CPD provider, the company assists and knowledge-transfers to clients, enabling them to approach and win more competitive projects.

As the UK’s leading Tridium and BMS trainer, One Sightsolutions was the first training partner to develop a full online Tridium certification. Since then, the company has seen unprecedented growth and demand and, in this year alone, has delivered 16 courses, certifying 167 engineers.

BCIA President Stacey Lucas praised the quality of the training and the in-depth knowledge and expertise shown by the trainers. She said: “With the building automation sector set to play a pivotal role in the built environment in the coming years, training of the most talented individuals in the industry is essential.

“One Sightsolutions’ training is highly informative, engaging, and of great benefit to the building automation sector. Trainees have also spoken so fondly of the knowledge imparted and the personable and helpful trainers. Outside of the training, the company is also working hard to move the BMS sector forward through thought-provoking discussions and CPDs.”
