Surge in BCIA memberships underlines UK’s drive towards net zero

Underlining the crucial role the building controls and automation sector is having on enhancing the built environment’s sustainability and energy efficiency performance, the Building Controls Industry Association has seen a further 15 companies securing membership in the past four months.

As one of the UK’s leading trade associations, and the only one specifically for the building controls and automation sector, the BCIA takes its position incredibly seriously, ensuring awareness and understanding of the benefits and adoption of building automation solutions across the commercial environment is increased.

With developers and owners of commercial properties now having until 2030 to upgrade their buildings to meet Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) of C or above, having an association that leads on advocacy and lobbying while promoting greater understanding and information on the multitude of sustainability and energy efficiency benefits of building automation systems is absolutely paramount.

Alongside receiving exclusive market trend information, having the opportunity to collaborate on shared interests, and gaining access to a pro-active network of members with which to develop business relationships, BCIA members new and existing are given the chance to shape and influence legislation and policy.

In the previous four months, the association has welcomed 15 new members:

·        Alpha Controls

·        AMROC Heating

·        CL Electrical Controls

·        Coster Group UK

·        Enterprise Control Engineers

·        Flockt

·        NG Moss Services

·        Origin Control Solutions

·        Quanta Controls

·        RES Controls

·        SetPoint Controls

·        Spartan Controls

·        Trane UK Limited

·        WAGO Limited

·        West Coast Controls

Karen Usborne, Office Manager at Origin Controls Solutions said; “As Origin continues to grow and evolve, joining the BCIA (Building Controls industry Association) was an easy decision. It reflects our commitment to continuous improvement - enhancing both our product offering and the development of our team. We're excited to be part of an organisation that champions excellence in building controls!”

As the BCIA’s recent market report underlined, the building energy management systems (BEMS) sector continues to perform well, seeing a 1.4% quarter-on-quarter increase in Q4 2024. It is therefore hardly surprising that companies and organisations in the industry are keen to join the only association specifically for the sector and one that focuses heavily on sustainability practices and driving innovation further across the built environment.

BCIA President Stacey Lucas suggested the rise in memberships reflected the positivity surrounding the BEMS sector and its increasing importance in the UK’s journey towards net zero.

She said: “Building automation is becoming an absolutely vital tool for climate-conscious building owners and facility managers wanting to reduce energy consumption and save money on energy bills.

“To that end, our members, both existing and new, can look forward to working collaboratively to further the understanding and awareness of this highly important industry.”
