Providing BEMS professionals with the technical training they need

As an organisation that focuses heavily on personal development and ensuring a brighter future for the building energy management systems (BEMS) sector, the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) is providing three new informative technical training courses.

Sontay Ltd is running BCIA accredited training courses, designed to give you the technical know how to diagnose faults, optimise control strategies and ensure systems run at peak efficiency.

Upcoming Courses:

  • BCM10 Fault Diagnostics & Correction - 1st & 2nd July

  • BCM12 BEMS Control Principles - 16th & 17th September

  • BCM13 BEMS Testing, Inspection & Certification - 7th & 8th October

Provided in-person at the Sontay Academy in Edenbridge, the BCIA technical training courses are all led by the sector’s most experienced and knowledgeable trainers. Aimed at educating those already involved in building controls, the BCM10, BCM12, and BCM13 training courses are the industry standard for those in the sector.

The BCM10 training course will help delegates understand:

·       What a fault is and how it can be defined as a deviation to expected functionality

·       Why and when faults occur

·       How faults are reported

·       What is required of a fault-finding engineer

·       The correct sequence for dealing with a fault

·       How to identify a control system fault

·       Safe working – what is it and how has responsibility for it?

·       Testing tools and techniques

BCM12: BEMS Control Principles will identify:

·       What a BEMS is designed to achieve

·       How to plan a BEMS

·       The application of BEMS control features to a building to achieve enhanced occupant wellbeing

·       How to achieve optimum energy usage in a building

·       Remote system interrogation and adjustment

·       BEMS monitoring and alarm annunciation

·       How to work with reports and analytics

BCM13: BEMS testing, inspection and certification looks at:

·       The verification process for electrical installations and control panels

·       The verification process for the mechanical installation

·       The process of verifying that the required standards are met during an inspection

·       The process of calibration for BEMS devices and the need for differing levels of device accuracy

·       The process of laboratory calibration for test equipment

·       The process for comparing BEMS equipment to known references

·       The common errors in measurement and the remedies

·       The need to adjust device outputs and BEMS inputs to improve accuracy

·       The use of factory calibrated devices

·       The final demonstration and documentation requirements

All three are advanced courses for building controls engineers and building services engineers with a good level of general experience. It is recommended that delegates complete BCM01-6 before taking these courses.

The BCIA’s industry-recognised training and development courses are always in high demand, so it’s best to book early to avoid disappointment.
