Unleashing the potential of future industry leaders

Following the success of the inaugural Inspired Leaders programme, the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) is launching a new six-month programme to develop existing, new, and future leaders of the building controls sector.

The specially designed industry-centric leadership training programme will encourage ‘leadership beyond boundaries’ for delegates with and without direct line management responsibilities. Additionally, this much-needed programme will educate those participating on the challenges and opportunities of leading within the BEMS industry.

Taking place between 30th September 2024 and the end of March 2025, the programme will feature 1:1 mentoring and learning for the maximum 14 delegates taking part. Developed in partnership with Inspired Leadership Solutions, the BCIA programme is led by Michael Holbrow, a professional coach, mentor, and facilitator who has spent more than three decades in the building controls industry.

The training programme, developed as a result of the BCIA’s corporate plan identifying a training gap, follows the success of the inaugural Inspired Leaders programme, which finished in February this year. The aim of the course is to enable businesses to more effectively retain and improve top talent while also giving industry professionals the chance to gain the significant expertise and knowledge needed to be an influential sector leader.

With an expected return on investment of up to 177%, this industry-centric leadership programme will ensure an even brighter future for the building controls sector.

During the 26-week programme, participants will take part in in-person immersion sessions, where they will work through leadership modules and hear from insightful guest speakers who will share their own leadership journeys and speak candidly on the challenges they’ve faced and tips for overcoming them.

Delegates will also have exclusive access to a leadership platform that challenges application of learning throughout the working day.

Participants in the inaugural Inspired Leaders programme highlighted the way in which the course reinforced the importance of leading by example and cultivating a strong, cohesive team. One successful delegate said: “The course was brilliant. I’m thankful to have been given the experience, as it has changed the way I operate within my business. It has given me the knowledge and inspiration to learn more and do an even better job as a leader, opening my eyes to the things that I didn’t know.”

BCIA President Stacey Lucas revealed the programme will help participants to be more confident to make good decisions, while avoiding stress from pressure situations and accepting challenges with a calm positivity. She said: “The aim of the Inspired Leaders programme is to enable leaders to optimise work situations and professional relationships while ensuring those working underneath them feel empowered and supported.

“Michael is a brilliant coach and will help those taking part to embrace the potential for leadership roles in the building controls sector and understand how to overcome any challenges along the way.”

The six-month programme costs £1,750+VAT. To join the next programme, register your place before 2nd September. For more information, and to book your place, click here.
