Upcoming YEN events pivotal to engineer development

Young Engineers Network (YEN) members have a series of exciting events to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Free to join for employees with BCIA member companies, the Network provides a stage for BEMS engineers under the age of 35 to increase the sector’s growth and enhance the profile and role of fellow engineers. That’s why it is important members support YEN events; the more people attend, the more opportunity it will create for youngsters to influence the industry, and optimise their personal and professional development. So, please help us inspire an even brighter future for our young engineers.

University of Bradford - 7th November 2024

An opportunity to attend a tour of an ongoing BEMS integration project at the University of Bradford. The event, on 7th November, provides an exclusive look at a £3.3m programme to support the University’s 2027 carbon-neutral target. Kindly hosted by Westminster Controls Director and BCIA Management Committee member Clare Grams, members will journey through the university’s main building and plant room for an insightful overview of the controls’ philosophy and objectives, the equipment that has been removed, and that installed will give attendees a detailed understanding of the project.  There will also be opportunity to take a look at some of the technology deployed including LoRaWAN, Modbus heat metering and more.

As well as gaining a better understanding of how controls are being deployed to transformational effect at the university, this is an opportunity for YEN members to build their network with a post-tour discussion and lunch.

Approximate timings:

Tour and discussion: 10am-12pm

Lunch and networking: 12pm - 2pm

Please note: lunch is courtesy of BCIA.

Numbers are limited to YEN members employed in BCIA member companies on a first come, first served basis (check here if you're not sure if your company is a member).

This is an excellent learning opportunity at a respected education institution.
